SPECIAL EVENTS & EXHIBITS

Costume Contest

(Sign-ups at 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. each day, Contest at 3 p.m. each day)

A nerdy event right before Halloween?  You’d better believe we’ll be having a costume contest on both days of the convention!  Gateway Comic Con’s costume contest will be simple walk-on style.  Interested contestants need to stop by the registration table between 10 am – 2 pm in order to sign up, with the contest being at 3 p.m. each day.  The top 2 kids (ages 12 and under) and top 2 attendees (13 and over) each day will win pass to Anime St. Louis 2019!  We’ll be keeping the rules simple as well:

·      Entrants will walk up on stage to pose and show off their great creations.  We ask that no one be on stage for more than a minute.

·      This is a family friendly costume contest, so costumes need to cover what your normal swimsuit would cover.  No nudity, profanity, or ultra-gore please.

·      Sorry, but no skits allowed.  In this same vein, no one needs to bring sounds, music, or other media.  We’ll have you covered.

·      To be considered for prizes, at least 60% of the entrant’s costume must be from their own making.  Store bought and commissioned costumes may still register to be up on stage as exhibitions and show off their love of their characters, but they will not be eligible for prizes.  The Kids Category is excluded from this rule.  We’ll give one Craftsmanship and one Judge’s Choice for each category.

·      Be sure to bring Work In Progress items and character pictures!
